Hunting & Fishing required a new retail store in Ōtaki that could support a growing customer base while making the most of a constrained site footprint. The challenge was to create a highly functional retail environment that balanced customer experience, storage, and operational flow, without compromising on space efficiency or long-term performance.
Engaged for the full design and build, Homestead took responsibility for delivering an end-to-end solution from early planning through to construction, ensuring alignment across design intent, budget, and programme from day one.
The 600m² ground floor footprint, complemented by a 240m² concrete mezzanine, was carefully designed to maximise usable space within the site constraints. By integrating the mezzanine into the structural design early, Homestead was able to unlock additional retail and storage capacity without increasing the building footprint, delivering greater commercial value for the client.
Through a coordinated design and build approach, Homestead streamlined decision-making, reduced handovers, and maintained momentum throughout the project. The result is a highly efficient, purpose-built retail environment that supports both customer experience and operational performance, positioning Hunting & Fishing for continued growth in a high-demand location.
