Homestead worked with Kāinga Ora to deliver these new homes in Cannons Creek, Porirua. There are a total of 14 one-bedroom apartments, with the front four ground floor units being accessible homes.
Construction took a total of 9 months, and the project was completed in September 2020. The official opening ceremony and blessing was in early October and was attended by Ngāti Toa, Porirua City Council, Kāinga Ora, Homestead Construction, and other stakeholders.
Precast concrete construction was integral to achieving a good outcome, providing warm, dry, energy-efficient, and low maintenance homes to the local community. These homes were built to exceed the Homestar 6 certification requirements, and have been certified as Homestar 6.
This project was a finalist in the 2021 Property Industry Awards (Community and Affordable Housing).
