Replacing a 60-year-old facility, the new Paekākāriki Surf Club needed to respond to both modern community needs and the environmental realities of an evolving coastline.
Engaged to deliver a future-ready solution, Homestead helped reposition the new 1,000m², two-level building further inland, addressing ongoing coastal erosion while maintaining strong connection to the beach and surf lifesaving operations.
The design balances functionality and community use, with the ground floor dedicated to operational spaces including storage, changing rooms, first aid, and public amenities, while the upper level provides social and viewing spaces with a bar, kitchen, lounge, watch tower, and decks.
The result is a resilient, modern facility that supports both lifesaving capability and community connection, designed to serve the coast for decades to come.
"From the start the communication was great and they proved to be very easy to work with throughout the project. As a volunteer organisation with limited resource, it was great to be able to hand over the site to Homestead and have confidence they had everything in hand. We were not disappointed; Homestead delivered the building ahead of forecast and under budget. The quality of every aspect of the work was outstanding, and the club and community are thrilled with our new home."
